The Truth is HERE

A highly un-noticed multi-billion dollar study done in October 1998, proved (with 83% certainty) that not only am I great, but that you suck.

Bought Google

I have purchased a miniscule amount of Google stock. Why so small? It is because it is so expensive. I bough it at $431.15. This was a little too much as it will almost certain fluctuate down a few dollars before going up.

Why did I buy this without caring about saving a few dollars? The reason is because they are making some very smart moves. I am willing to bet that Google does not want to own AOL entirely. However, they do not want anybody else to buy them. A 5% stake in AOL will most likely prohibit anybody else like Microsoft (a very undervalued stock) from buying it.

Now what I am betting on is Google's ability to grow AND their ability to lobby. Google may be the least "Evil" company out there but they are not stupid. It is better to get your political side in line with your business side.

If Google can increase the releases (and upgrades) of their APIs and products. I can see Google's price doubling in a year to 18 months down the road. I have put my money where my mouth is.

What is a McJob?

A McJob is pretty much what the name implies. It is a low paying McDonalds type job. Most Walmart jobs are McJobs as well as grocery stores and nearly all fast food restaurants. McJobs are faceless. This means big coprorations will pay X amount of dollars independent of who fills that job. They don't care who or what you know as long as you do the job.

The bigger question is are McJobs a good thing? The obvious answer is Yes & No. However I feel that there is more YESes than NOs.

Why No? This is because McJobs are almost always deadend jobs. There can is absolutely no or very little chance to work your way up the McJob foodchain. If you do go up the McJob foodchain the amount of time taken could easily be spent doing other things.

Why Yes? Because it give McPeople a place to work. McPeople are uneducated, unskilled or transition people such as students or immigrants. Now that may sound harsh but what you have to realize is that this can be the means to a non McJob (such as the case of McStudents).

The best example that I have found is the current riots in France. France's unemployment rate is 10%. This is because France makes employers, ESPECIALLY FOREIGN CORPORATIONS, such as WalMart pay excessive amounts for even the simplest jobs. If you let an employee go, the employer has to pay around 18 mos. of the employees salary or more. So basically these McEmployers don't want to come into country to nearly the same extent.

What does this have to do with the riots? The people rioting where muslim communities that had a 30% unemployement rate. While the riot's intial spark was not the unemployment rate and subsequent lack of money, it was the fuel. A lot of these people had nothing to lose in rioting. They were beat down and had no hopes of climbing out.

Sold AMD

I sold my AMD stock yesterday for $26.57. I still think this company has great products but needs to get more out of debt and it's Price/Earnigs ratio out of the triple digits. I may buy back when the PE ratio is better or if the price drops a few dollars.

WTF?

So I go on a business trip to Tuscon and Austin. Just got into Austin last night and now they are talking about shutting down the entire city because of an ice storm! This Buffalo guy has no compassion for this nonsense :)

Sold Prematurely

I sold a third of my CTG stock today for $4.02. I was waiting for $4.50 but decided to scrape off a little profit regardless. If it drops $0.25 then I may buy back more than I sold.

The reason I did this was because there is very little volume and a very tight Bid & Ask price. (Bid is the price people are trying to buy for and Ask is the price people are asking to sell at.)

Previously the volume was decent (still low for other normal stocks) but the Ask price was high! I feel the buyers aren't going to pay much more than $4.00 - $4.05 unless they have other reasons to. I expect the price to drop to about $3.60-3.75 in the next couple days as people get nervous and try to take profits.

Keep in mind I only sold a third and am holding onto 66% because I feel this is going to go up to $5 by the end of January, hopefully sooner.

Texas Hold-Em

I have been doing farely well at playing Texas Hold Em. However playing online has gotten me very little. I prefer to play tournament style. I was 3 people away from getting a $10,000 entry into the World Poker tour (not bad for fronting only $40). Playing friendly games I have won 4 out of the past 6 times.

Playing online lacks the human connection. Also I do very poorly when people can buy back in. Tournament style is where it's at! When you can back in, there is a lot less skill to it and people tend to waste not only their money but yours as well.

Sold and Hold

I was able to get out of Lucent today for $2.82 just like I intended. Ended up after rounding the commision/trade of a net profit of $0.94.

I am currently holding onto AMD and CTG. I am going to sell about a third of my CTG holdings if it hits $4.50, $5.00 and $5.50 respectively. While this company is worth $5.00+ a share, the market still hasn't learned to retrust them. Hopefully it will go up by the end of January and then back down in February so I can rebuy in the under $4 range.
