What the Hell is Google Page Rank?Put simply, Google's Page Rank is Google's measure of importance. What does this mean? Basically the more links that a web page has, the more important it is. Google assigns each page it finds a value from zero through ten.

A page having a Page Rank (PR) of 2 is manytimes better than a page with a Page Rank (PR) of 1. The scale is ever increasing from PR 1 to 10. Simply speaking to have a site of PR 1 you need at least 18 other pages with PR 1 linking to the target page. However you would need over 100 PR 1 pages linking to a target page to have a PR 2 and over 550 to get it to a PR 3. (There are other variables to the equation, but that is not in the scope of this writing.)

There is a shortcut however and that is to have pages with higher PR point to your page. If PR 2 and PR 3 pages are pointing to your target page then you will just need a few to get the target page to become a PR 2 page.

One major thing to remember is that getting a page to have a Page Rank takes a considerable amount time. At the fastest it takes a brand new page a couple of months. At the longest it will take 4 or 5 especially if it is a brand new site. With the billions of web pages out there, Google takes a while assigning values.

The last point is to point out that Page Rank is just for 1 page and not an entire site. Many out there will either mislead or mis-speak when they say they have a site the has a specific Page Rank. Each page has its own Page Rank and the only way one page can affect anothers is by linking to it.
